Update 5/18: The Montgomery County Department of Health of Human Services announced today that public and private community pools will not open Memorial Day weekend because of COVID-19 restrictions.
In the meantime, your volunteer Palisades Board of Directors continues to monitor and discuss events and information pertaining to our pool community. We have already partially reopened our tennis facilities. As we await state and local directives affecting swim clubs, we are continuing with repairs and maintenance on our pool facilities so Palisades can open for swimming when and if we are able.
If we are able to open our pools this summer, we expect the 2020 season to look different from previous years. We anticipate that we will need to employ physical distancing practices in order to reduce the number of members at any given time, as well as increase our cleaning and sanitizing methods. The Board is discussing many different scenarios which will undoubtedly have budget impacts but we are not able to make any decisions until more information is issued from state and local authorities.
Given that we continue to incur fixed costs and significant costs associated with getting the facilities ready to open, at this point, we are not offering refunds unless a member decides to give up a membership entirely. Depending on how things turn out with this season’s budget, though, the Board has been discussing the possibility of providing partial credits against next year’s dues, while taking into account this year’s operating costs, repairs, and maintenance. Of course, we will share updated plans and policies as soon as we can.
Thank you for your patience,
The Palisades Board of Directors
