Palisades Tennis

May 2020 Update

Palisades Swim and Tennis Club Limited Re-Opening of Tennis Facilities

Following Governor Hogan’s expansion of additional outdoor recreational activities, the Palisades Board has approved a limited re-opening of the Palisades’ tennis courts for play.  Palisades will be, at all times, in compliance with appropriate directives from our governing authorities.  As this guidance changes, Palisades will adjust operations accordingly and reserves the right to close its facilities as necessary.

In an effort to provide a clear set of expectations for Palisades members, the protocols and procedures for re-opening tennis at Palisades amidst the ongoing concerns relating to COVID-19 are outlined here

Please make certain to familiarize yourself with the guidelines before making tennis reservations and visiting Palisades.

Spring Junior Instructional Program – Begins March 30th

We will have after school classes for ages 5-18 years old. We have levels from beginners all the way to tournament level juniors. We teach your kids to play the right way with good technique while having fun at the same time. Please review the attached program and sign your child up ASAP as many classes fill up fast! Please let me know if you need a recommendation as to which class your child should be enrolled in.

Adult Tennis Teams

Did you know that we have 5 adult tennis teams that compete against other area clubs?  We have 2 ladies daytime teams that compete in the GWTA league.  We have a ladies B Team which plays its matches on Tuesday mornings with practice on Friday mornings and is for the 3.5 to 4.0 level player.  The second daytime team is our C team which plays its matches on Monday morning and practices on Thursday morning.  This team consists of mainly 3.0-3.5 level players.

The other 3 teams play in the evening league which begins the first week in May and goes through July.  The men’s team is a 4.0 level team and they play their matches on Tuesday evenings.  We also have both a 3.5 women’s evening team and 4.0 team.  These women play their matches on Thursday evenings with practices on Sunday morning.

Advanced Junior Program for the Summer

This summer at Palisades we will be offering a new summer camp program for more advanced juniors.  In the past we have had all juniors in one camp from 9-12.  I feel that since my time at Palisades, we have developed a good amount of juniors and these kids have gotten older and have skills that have surpassed the level of the kids in our regular summer camp.  So this summer there will be camp for juniors who are playing tournaments and/or competing on their high school tennis teams which will be completely separate from the other camp.  You may choose from half day morning, half day afternoon or full day options.  This camp is perfect for those juniors wishing to take their game to a new level or for those junior team members looking for a more immersive full day tennis experience in the summer.

Junior Tennis Team

Did you know that our junior tennis team had our best finish ever last year? We finished in 2nd place out of 8 clubs in our league and came within one match of beating the first place team. If your child is interested in getting experience playing matches then the Palisades Junior Tennis Team is perfect for you! The league is only for unranked juniors that do not have a lot of experience playing matches and is a great way for kids to learn how to play matches in a low key atmosphere.
